Hand Positions in Reiki Therapy
The hands are the primary instruments of healing in Reiki, and the position in which they are placed on the recipient is significant. However, the hand positions can be adjusted depending on the circumstances. Simply placing the hands on the appropriate part of the body is adequate for Reiki therapy.
Reiki can be effectively administered through clothing, as the energy flows through the clothing. Nevertheless, many people prefer to have no material barriers during the therapy.
The Head
For the head, there are several hand positions to address various issues:
- Place the hands on either side of the nose, with the palms covering the eyes, thumbs resting by the bridge of the nose, and fingertips covering the cheeks and reaching the upper lip. This position covers the sinuses, eyes, Pituitary gland, and teeth. It is beneficial for addressing colds, sinusitis, eye complaints, allergies, fatigue, and general discomfort.
- Alternatively, place the hands over the ears, with fingertips extending down the jawline to the neck, encompassing the ears and the semi-circular canals, responsible for balance. This position also affects the pharyngeal area and helps with issues related to balance, hearing loss, and more.
- To relieve conditions like headaches, colds, asthma, and circulatory problems, place the hands on the back of the head. This position also promotes relaxation.
The Chest and Abdomen
There are various hand positions for the chest and abdomen, and here are a few:
- For the thymus, heart, and lungs, place one hand across the thymus and the other at a 90-degree angle just below and between the breasts. This arrangement reinforces the immune system and assists with the lymphatics, heart, lungs, and general debility.
- Place the hands on either side of the navel and slightly to one side to focus on the stomach and digestive organs. This helps with digestion, metabolism, and related symptoms like nausea, heartburn, gastrointestinal diseases, and indigestion, which can also alleviate anxiety and depression related to these conditions.
- Another position is to approach the body from the right side of the recipient, placing your left hand around the base of the ribcage. This position is used to address diseases and conditions of the gall bladder and liver, which play a crucial role in metabolic functions and toxin removal from the body.
- A similar position on the left side of the body encompasses the area of the bowels, spleen, and part of the pancreas. This position is effective for treating indigestion and promoting healthy blood.
- Focus on the appendix, intestines, and urinogenital organs by placing your hands where the pelvic bones meet over the pubic area. This position is beneficial for various ailments associated with these organs and can also help with allergies, general debility, sexual issues, weight-related concerns, and immune system reinforcement.
The Back
There are multiple hand positions used for the back:
- Place the hands across the shoulder blades at the mid to upper point to influence the intestines, lungs, heart, and various muscles in the neck and shoulder region. This position is helpful for lung and heart diseases, muscular tension, headaches, and related conditions.
- When the hands are positioned lower down the back, around the midriff (on the lower ribs), they accommodate the kidneys and adrenal glands, which are important for hormone production and controlling various body functions.
Warning:
It's advisable to consult a qualified practitioner before starting with Reiki, especially if you have serious medical conditions or diseases.
