Eye issues require emergency medical treatment. Additional symptoms like blood in the urine, coughing up blood, or chest pain could also prompt someone to consult a doctor.
Follow-up
After treatment, symptoms of Wegener granulomatosis can return. Most often, symptoms return within two years of the end of treatment with
medications. People with Wegener granulomatosis should continue to see the doctor regularly.
Some people may develop long-term
kidney
problems (renal failure) and may need
dialysis (a process of medical filtering) or a
kidney transplant
.
Prevention
There is no known way to prevent this disorder.
