Standing/walking
While standing for a prolonged time, stand with one
foot up; changing positions often. Stand with your
back's three natural curves in their normal, balanced
alignment. Walk with good posture, keeping head
high, chin tucked in, toes straight ahead. Wear
comfortable, low-heeled shoes.
Driving
Move your car seat forward to keep knees level
with hips Sit straight, drive with both hands on the
wheel. To support your lower back, place a
lumbar support or a rolled up towel behind your back.
Sitting
Sit in chairs low enough to place both heels flat on the
floor with
knees level with hips. Sit firmly against the
back of your chair. Protect your lower back with a
lumbar support or a rolled-up towel.
Sleeping
A good night's sleep on a firm mattress is good for
you and your back. Sleep on your side with knee;
bent, or on your back with a pillow under you knees
Choose the position that is most comfortable for you.
