TYPENOTES
COMMUNICABLE THROUGH SKIN CUTS, ORAL ROUTE BUT REQUIRES HEPATITIS-B VIRAL PARTICLES TO REPLICATE & INFECT OTHER HEPATOCYTES.Medical Care: Treatment consists primarily of support. Observe synthetic liver function markers and mental status closely. Deterioration of either should prompt early consultation with hospital personnel capable of performing liver transplantation. Surgical Care: Liver transplantation is indicated in patients with fulminant liver failure. Diet: " Diet need not be restricted. " If enteral intake is poor, intravenous fluids can be administered. " Total parental nutrition is seldom needed. Activity: No restrictions are necessary DRUG TREATMENT : Antiviral therapy with interferon can be considered in patients with chronic infection. The treatment course is usually at least one year. Treatment is not needed for patients with co-infection due to high spontaneous clearance rate. Lamivudine, ribavirin & corticosteroids are not effective. 1. interferon alfa
