Nitroxazepine, which is commonly referred to as Sintamil, is somewhat different from most antidepressants. While it falls under the tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) group due to its molecular and atomic make up, it actually acts as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) Not only that, but compared to other antidepressants, the amount of side effects that taking Nitroxazepine can produce is far less. What makes this interesting is that although it's technically and medically classified as a TCA, it has the ability to treat disorders that often require a SNRI type of antidepressant.
For example, Nitroxazepine can be prescribed by a doctor to help treat anxiety, obsessive compulsiveness or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Due to Nitroxazepine acting as a SNRI, it can also be used to help treat many different varieties of depression, ranging from bipolar, manic depressive and seasonal affective disorder.
Not only that, but Nitroxazepine has a decreased risk of side effects that affect the anticholinergic agent. The anticholinergic agent affects neurotransmitters that basically work our peripheral nervous system.
While the side effects of Nitroxazepine may be less than other antidepressants, that doesn't mean that it has absolutely none at all. Side effects of taking Nitroxazepine include, but aren't limited to:
" Dry mouth (especially when waking up in the morning)
" Dizziness
" Increased frequency of headaches or migraines
" Weight loss or weight gain
While most antidepressants can have side effects that cause loss of vision, hearing, taste or smell, Nitroxazepine is unique in that it doesn't target the anticholinergic agents in the brain. These anticholinergic agents target peripheral systems such as hearing, smell, sight or sound.
However, this doesn't make Nitroxazepine some sort of wonder drug. While its side effects may appear to be less severe than other antidepressants, one should always be careful when taking Nitroxazepine. Like most prescribed medications, Nitroxazepine should never ever be mixed with other prescription, recreational or over the counter drugs. Doing so greatly increases the users chances of suffering from the minor side effects as well as greatly increasing their likelihood of suffering severe medical conditions such as:
" Stroke
" Coma
" Seizures
" And in worst case scenarios, even death.
Those suffering for diabetes are also at a higher risk of suffering from side effects related to taking Nitroxazepine due to their need of insulin shots. These insulin shots combined with Nitroxazepine can lead to the user suffering from the above mentioned side effects. Therefore, caution is taken when prescribing a patient Nitroxazepine who is in need of insulin shots as well.
